A heartbreaking story has emerged of a woman who sacrificed herself to save her 9-month-old son by shielding him with her body during a shooting terror attack at the light rail station in the Jaffa district of Tel Aviv, Israel.
On the 2nd (local time), the American news weekly Newsweek reported the story of Inbar Segev-Vigdor (33, female), a victim of the shooting terror attack that occurred the previous day, citing Israeli local media.

At around 7 p.m. on the 1st, a shooting terror attack occurred at the Erlyi light rail station in the Jaffa district of Tel Aviv, Israel, killing 7 people and injuring 12. At the time, two assailants got off a train stopped at the station and opened fire and stabbed people on the street. Segev-Vigdor was shot while getting off the light rail during the shooting. Despite the urgent situation, she protected her 9-month-old son, who was strapped to her chest in a baby carrier, by shielding him with her entire body and saved him. Thanks to this, the son was not injured at all and was transported to the hospital by other passengers and police who heard the baby’s cries.
Segev-Vigdor ran a Pilates studio in Tel Aviv, and her husband, Yari, is an Israeli reservist who participated in the Gaza Strip battle, according to the local media Jerusalem Post. After hearing the news of the shooting and losing contact with his wife, Yari rushed to the scene and found the doctor and his son hiding from Iran’s missile attack at the hospital. He tearfully said, “The son who was in his mother’s arms during the shooting was not injured at all,” and added, “I hope my son will feel the love he received from his mother for the rest of his life.”
The two suspects who carried out the terror attack were identified as Palestinians Muhammad Chalaf Sahar Rajab and Hasan Muhammad Hasan Tamimi from Hebron, a city in the West Bank of the Jordan River. They were shot dead by civilians and security personnel while fleeing the scene. The Tel Aviv terror attack occurred almost simultaneously with Iran’s ballistic missile retaliation after Israel launched a limited ground operation in Lebanon, causing local citizens to suffer double fear. Immediately after the terror attack, the Palestinian armed group Hamas claimed responsibility.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the terror act and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. The World Jewish Congress (WJC), a Jewish organization, praised Segev-Vigdor as a “hero who saved her child” on X (formerly Twitter) and mourned her death.
