Tour of Subtropical Fruit Farms Growing Bananas and Hallabong in the Pohang Area

The Pohang Agricultural Technology Center reported that during the National Rural Leaders Conference, there was a strong response as agricultural organizations visited subtropical farms in the Pohang area.


This tour was held as a special event during the 77th National Rural Leaders Conference from September 30 to October 2. Around 560 members from agricultural organizations across eight regions, including Yangju in Gyeonggi Province, visited local farms cultivating subtropical fruits such as bananas and Hallabong.

Came to Learn Subtropical Agriculture Technology in Pohang... Nationwide Agricultural Groups Continue Field Trips From September 30 to October 2, when the National Rural Leaders Conference was held, agricultural organizations continued to visit subtropical farms in the Pohang area.

The tour program, which included explanations from subtropical agriculture experts, received great interest and positive feedback from participants. In particular, there were fruitful discussions on various ways to apply Pohang's advanced agricultural technologies to agriculture in other regions, making it a valuable experience.


An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "We hope that this tour will help spread Pohang's subtropical agricultural technologies nationwide and contribute to increasing the income of farmers in each region."


Since 2017, Pohang City has continuously promoted various pilot projects to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture, such as establishing smart farm facilities for subtropical fruits and conducting pilot projects for promising subtropical fruit cultivation.


Currently, Pohang City is cultivating bananas, passion fruit, apple mango, Hallabong, and other crops in 18 facilities covering 3.3 hectares.
