Seoul Subway Fare Increase of 150 Won Scheduled for Second Half Delayed Until Next Year

No Immediate Price Increase Following Government's Inflation Suppression Policy

The planned 150-won increase in Seoul subway fares, expected this month, is likely to be postponed until next year.


According to Seoul City on the 3rd, due to the government's policy to curb inflation, there will be no additional subway fare hikes for the time being. Therefore, no further subway fare increases are expected within this year. A Seoul city official stated, "An immediate increase is difficult, and the specific timing has not been decided."


Originally, Seoul City planned to raise subway fares by 150 won in the second half of this year. The city raised Seoul city bus fares for main and branch lines (card basis) by 300 won (from 1,200 won to 1,500 won) starting August 12 last year, and increased the basic subway fare by 150 won (from 1,250 won to 1,400 won) starting October 7 of the same year.
