The Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 3rd that it received the 'Highest Grade (S Grade)' for the first time since its establishment in 2008 in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Free Economic Zone performance evaluation.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy recently held the 141st Free Economic Zone Committee meeting and finalized the evaluation results of the 2023 business performance for the nine free economic zones.
The Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority received high marks in attracting domestic and foreign investment, promoting development projects, and building an innovation ecosystem in this evaluation.
The Free Economic Zone performance evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry's Free Economic Zone Planning Division targeting the nine domestic free economic zone authorities. The evaluation criteria include ▲development and investment attraction strategies of the free economic zone authorities ▲innovation ecosystem building strategies ▲leadership of the institution heads ▲foreign investment attraction performance ▲unit district evaluation ▲tenant company satisfaction, among others.
The Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority was highly rated for its development strategy reflecting changes in the external environment, various promotional activities, foreign investment attraction performance, and efforts in district development.
Choi Won-yong, head of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "I am pleased to receive the S grade for the first time since our establishment as a result of efforts made with our staff to revitalize the free economic zone," and emphasized, "We will not be complacent with the evaluation results and will devote all efforts to the development of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone and the activation of investment attraction."
