Promoting Harmony Among Hwado and Joan Residents
The Namyangju City Walking Federation Hwado-eup Branch held the "18th Namyangju Mayor's Walking Competition" at Jaejaegit Tunnel on the 1st. The Hwado-eup Branch of the Namyangju City Walking Federation (President Yoon Soon-ok) announced on the 2nd that it successfully held the '18th Namyangju Mayor's Walking Competition' at Jaejaegi Tunnel on the 1st.
The opening ceremony was graced by Namyangju Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, Namyangju City Council Chairman Jo Seong-dae, provincial and city council members, and heads of institutions and organizations. In addition, about 500 participants, including members of the Hwado-eup Branch of the Walking Federation and local residents, attended, making the event a great success.
This walking competition, held ahead of the opening of Provincial Road No. 8, started at the entrance of Jaejaegi Tunnel in the Chasan-ri direction and proceeded on a round-trip course of about 5 km to the turning point in Sambong-ri, Joan-myeon.
In particular, at the center of the tunnel, which is the boundary between Hwado-eup and Joan-myeon, Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, Hwado-eup Chief Park Jae-young, and Joan-myeon Chief Lee Hong-gu waved the city flag, eup flag, and myeon flag respectively, presenting a symbolic performance of Hwado and Joan becoming one, attracting the attention of citizens.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok emphasized, "This walking competition became a monumental event where Hwado and Joan residents united as one," and added, "Namyangju City has risen as a transportation hub with the opening of five GTX lines and the extension of the Byeolnae Line. All of this was possible thanks to the wishes and active participation of the citizens."
President Yoon Soon-ok said, "This walking competition was a symbolic event where Hwado and Joan residents could become one, and I hope we continue to be good neighbors who encourage and care for each other while walking together."
Meanwhile, the event was further enriched by support from Namyangju City, Hwado Nonghyup, Hwado-eup Entrepreneurs Association, and Sansu Beverage, each providing 500 pieces of bread, diffusers, and water respectively.
The Hwado-eup Walking Branch holds regular walking events annually in cooperation with the Hwado-eup Office and announced plans to continue efforts to promote the health and harmony of local residents in the future.
