Namyangju City Hosts 'Human Book Day' for 2nd and 3rd Generation Children's Tennis Academy

Namyangju City held a "Human Book Day" event for instructors of the "Children's Tennis Academy" at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center tennis court on the 29th of last month.

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 2nd that it held a "Human Book Day" event for instructors of the "Children's Tennis Academy" at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center tennis court on the 29th of last month.

Human Book Day is a project promoted as a collaboration between the 8th term cultural pledge "One Person, One Sport" and the first small but certain happiness pledge "Human Book Library."

This event was organized to encourage the efforts of about 70 tennis enthusiasts who volunteered their talents for the "2024 Children's Tennis Academy" and to discuss the direction for next year's academy.

The event was graced by the presence of Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, Yoon Seong-hyun, President of the Namyangju Sports Council, Professor Lim Ji-heon of Samyook University (City Sports Policy Advisor, former national tennis player), Sung Ki-chun, President of the Korea Tennis Promotion Association, and former national tennis players Lim Gyu-tae and Lim Sae-mi.

Mayor Joo Gwang-deok said, "Talent donation goes beyond a simple act of giving; it plays an important role in making the community healthier and more vibrant. Your time and effort will not only plant dreams and hopes in children but also become a precious sharing that spreads a healthy way of life."

The Children's Tennis Academy was first planned last year with the purpose of providing opportunities for local elementary school 5th and 6th graders to easily learn tennis after school, and it is conducted through talent donations by tennis instructors registered as Human Books by region.

The academy, which operated in five sessions from March last year to June this year, produced 481 graduates, and 77 students are currently enrolled in the third session (September to October) of this year’s academy.
