Yangju City Promotes 'Water Pipe Improvement Support Project' for Houses with Rusty Water

Yangju City Promotes 'Water Pipe Improvement Support Project' for Houses with Rusty Water A view of Yangju City Hall.

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) is providing financial support for the renovation of internal water pipes in houses where rust-colored water appears, to ensure citizens can use clean and safe tap water.

According to Yangju City on the 2nd, this project targets multi-unit housing, single-family homes, and multi-family homes that are 130㎡ or less in size and have been completed for more than 20 years.

The support amount is provided differentially based on the standard total construction cost according to the housing area (90% for 60㎡ or less, 80% for 85㎡ or less, and 30% for 130㎡ or less), and households receiving basic livelihood benefits or belonging to the lower-income bracket can receive full coverage of construction costs.

The renovation costs cover up to 600,000 KRW for shared piping and 1,800,000 KRW for indoor drainage pipes, with multi-unit housing receiving support separately for shared piping and indoor water supply pipes.

However, the program may end early if the budget is exhausted.

Households wishing to apply can contact the Waterworks Department, Waterworks Project Team of Yangju City. After reviewing the application documents, the responsible official will visit the site to conduct a water quality test and determine and notify whether the household qualifies for support.

A city official stated, “Citizens have been inconvenienced by rust-colored water caused by corroded water pipes but have hesitated to renovate their water supply pipes due to costs. We ask for your active interest and applications.”
