The won-dollar exchange rate surged by more than 10 won due to concerns over the Middle East conflict.
On the 2nd, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate closed at 1,319.3 won at 3:30 PM, up 11.5 won from the previous trading day.
On that day, the exchange rate started at 1,323.8 won, rising due to the dollar's strength amid fears of a full-scale war between Israel and Iran, then slightly declined to close the session.
The won's weakness was limited as the Middle East situation did not further deteriorate and the yuan continued to strengthen.
