Leica CountryMapper Suitable for Environmental Monitoring and Land Management... Will Enhance Surveying Capabilities
Leica Geosystems, a subsidiary of the Hexagon group, announced that LTMetric, a leading aerial surveying company headquartered in Seoul, has purchased the Leica CountryMapper hybrid aerial sensor, becoming the first in the Asia-Pacific region to do so.
This sensor provides the data collection performance and flexibility required for LTMetric's large-scale surveying, supporting expansion into rapidly changing markets such as forestry, environmental monitoring, and land management.
The CountryMapper leverages Leica Geosystems' expertise in hybrid aerial surveying systems by integrating a large photogrammetric camera and a high-performance LiDAR unit into a single sensor pod.
This enables simultaneous capture of high-resolution images and point clouds, allowing the creation of highly accurate 2D and 3D data products in a single flight. The CountryMapper offers robust and flexible solutions for various applications including hydrographic surveying, forest monitoring, and infrastructure management.
LTMetric, a domestic leader in digital twin technology, currently operates the Leica CityMapper hybrid sensor and Leica DMC III sensor. It plays a crucial role in several government-approved surveying projects and supports the construction of digital twins for Seoul, Chuncheon, and Jangseong County, contributing to the improvement of regional administrative decision-making processes.
Kim Do-yeop, Executive Director of Project Implementation at LTMetric, stated, “The Leica CountryMapper is a strategic addition to our equipment and is expected to assist in carrying out various large-scale surveying projects,” adding, “By utilizing Leica Geosystems' hybrid technology, we will be able to build digital twins not only for cities but also for wide areas.”
John Welter, President of Geographic Information Content Solutions at Hexagon Geosystems, said, “We are pleased to see LTMetric making full use of the CountryMapper,” and added, “This sensor represents a leap in aerial technology and demonstrates our commitment to supporting customers in their pursuit of excellence and innovation.”
