Charges Including Injury from Obstruction of Special Official Duties
A man in his 20s who dragged a police officer on his car and fled during a DUI checkpoint in the early morning hours was caught by the police.
The Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced on the 2nd that they arrested a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges including obstruction of official duties causing injury.
Mr. A is suspected of injuring two police officers while fleeing a DUI checkpoint on a road in front of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 3:50 a.m. that day.
According to the police, Mr. A refused to get out of the vehicle when ordered by the officers, and when a police officer climbed onto the car hood to conduct a breathalyzer test, he attempted to flee.
Mr. A reportedly drove about 10 meters before crashing into a patrol car that had been pre-positioned by the police in preparation for his escape, which caused him to stop.
His blood alcohol concentration was found to be more than twice the license cancellation limit (0.08%).
The two injured officers sustained minor injuries and received hospital treatment. The police are currently investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident with Mr. A.
