Kakao Group "Created 15 Trillion Won Socioeconomic Ripple Effect Last Year"

Employment Induction Effect of 53,000 People

Kakao disclosed on the 2nd on its corporate website the socio-economic ripple effects that the Kakao Group contributed to our society directly and indirectly last year.


Kakao conducted this analysis to measure the industrial impact of its efforts in digital transformation that brought innovation to users' daily lives. The analysis showed that in 2023, the production inducement effect created directly and indirectly by the group in the domestic industry amounted to 15.2 trillion KRW, and the value-added inducement effect was 7.5 trillion KRW.

They also revealed the job creation effect. Last year, the employment inducement effect was about 53,000 people, contributing to the creation of approximately 134,400 jobs over the past three years. Kakao is also steadily focusing on nurturing IT talent so that South Korea's technology ecosystem can continue to grow sustainably.


A total of 10 companies including Kakao, KakaoGames, KakaoMobility, KakaoBank, KakaoVentures, KakaoStyle, KakaoEnterprise, KakaoEntertainment, KakaoPay, and KakaoHealthcare are directly contributing to society within their respective industries, with 60 indicators available for review.


In Kakao's case, the number of partners communicating with customers through the KakaoTalk channel surpassed 2 million, and the marketing costs saved by partners through the Talk Channel averaged about 34.7 billion KRW per month. Approximately 1,800 public institutions nationwide are enhancing administrative convenience through AlimTalk, and the number of electronic documents sent via KakaoTalk Wallet reached 470 million.
