Gwanak-gu Opens 11 Loess Trails Including Nakseongdae Park and Cheongryongsan Park

Opening Ceremony Held on the 30th at Sillim Valley District Hwangtotgil
Utilizing 11 Park and Green Space Pockets with Good Resident Accessibility and Convenience

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has completed the construction of 11 Hwangtotgil (red clay paths) in parks and green areas throughout Gwanak-gu and held an opening ceremony on September 30.

The opening ceremony took place at the Hwangtotgil in the Sillim Valley area of Gwanaksan Park, with about 150 attendees including Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, Park Dong-chang, Chairman of the Barefoot Walking Movement Headquarters, and local residents.

The district announced the official operation of the Hwangtotgil to residents with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mayor Park Jun-hee walked the Hwangtotgil with residents to check for any inconveniences and listen to their opinions.

To meet increasing resident demand and create local healing spots, the district selected 11 locations for the Hwangtotgil considering ▲places accessible to many residents ▲locations with good accessibility ▲areas where existing walking trails could be utilized.

The district invested 920 million KRW to complete a total of 659 meters and an area of 1,398㎡ of Hwangtotgil by August 31.

The Hwangtotgil paths are located in six sites in the Bongcheon area (▲Cheongnim Eoullim Madang ▲Next to Guksabong Gymnasium ▲Sangdo Neighborhood Park ▲Janggunbong Neighborhood Park ▲Nakseongdae Park ▲Cheongryongsan Park) and five sites in the Sillim area (▲Citizen’s Forest Embankment Path ▲Seonwoo Park ▲Sky Park ▲Saemmal Park ▲Next to Sillim Valley).

In particular, the Nakseongdae district Hwangtotgil features a barrier-free deck path harmonized with nature, providing residents with a unique atmosphere for walking.

Also, the Sillim Valley district Hwangtotgil, measuring 180 meters in length and 520㎡ in area, is the largest among the 11 Hwangtotgil paths. The path is surrounded by a valley, and a water play area was also created this year, making it a popular summer destination.

The district has equipped the Hwangtotgil with auxiliary facilities such as foot washing stations, shoe racks, and benches to allow residents to walk and relax conveniently.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “The most important thing for residents’ happiness is health. Barefoot walking has grounding effects and is good for health, so we have created Hwangtotgil paths throughout the district to improve accessibility for residents. We will continue to manage these paths so that residents can enjoy clean air and nature, heal, and interact with each other.”
