Israel: "Iran fired 200 missiles... Intercepted"
On the 1st (local time), Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel, prompting U.S. President Joe Biden to order the interception of Iranian missiles targeting Israel.
On that day, the White House announced that President Biden gave the order while monitoring Iran's attack in the White House Situation Room with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate.
President Biden and Vice President Harris have reportedly been continuously receiving related reports from the national security team.
On the same day, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it launched dozens of missiles targeting Israel, describing the retaliation as revenge for the deaths of Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, and Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Lebanese armed faction Hezbollah, who were killed in Israeli attacks.
The Israeli military confirmed that Iran fired about 200 missiles and that a significant number were intercepted. They also warned that Iran would pay a severe price for this attack.
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former president, claimed through his social networking service (SNS) Truth Social that "if I were president, (this situation) would not have happened," and argued that "this war could have been completely prevented."
