On September 28-29, Seoul’s Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seongsu) successfully wrapped up the ‘2024 Seoripul Festival,’ which energized the 10-lane Banpo-daero with diverse sights and activities for 200,000 citizens.

Visitors enjoyed a delightful escape by drawing colorful chalk pictures on the car-free 10-lane Banpo-daero and admired Banpo-daero transformed into an art installation, creating unforgettable memories.
At the ‘Seoripul Silent Disco’ held on the night of the 28th, participants enjoyed their own rhythms without worrying about others, and on the morning of the 29th, a unique experience of yoga in the building forest of Banpo-daero helped loosen stiff bodies.
The opening performance featured grand classical music by the Seocho Symphony Orchestra and Seocho Orchestra Academy, with violinist Park Suye and traditional Korean music group SG FOREST collaborating. Later, singers John Park and Jung In added a sweet vocal touch to the autumn night’s mood, and original K-POP star Jung Hoonhee beautifully closed the finale.
On the 29th, the closing performance began with singers Paul Kim and Davichi, followed by passionate stages from Heritage Mass Choir and band Jannabi. The festival concluded with a 7-minute fireworks display illuminating the night sky over Banpo-daero.
This year, international exchange cities also participated, including a jazz singer from Paris 15th arrondissement, representatives from Kingston, UK, and Irvine, USA, who enjoyed the festival.

Songpa-gu’s 24th Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival Draws 300,000 Visitors Over Two Days
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gangseok) held the high-quality cultural and arts festival, the ‘24th Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival,’ from September 27 to 29 at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park.
This year’s theme was ‘The Power of Culture Connecting Hearts.’ It symbolizes how the cultural power, originating from Hanseong Baekje culture and flowing for 2,000 years, extends beyond Korea to the world, connecting people’s hearts and uniting them.
Seo Gangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “The Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival continues to transform in line with Songpa-gu’s reputation as a leading tourist city in Seoul. We planned the festival to be more modern, artistic, and entertaining so that residents and visitors from home and abroad can all enjoy it together.”
Since 2022, the district has selected themes centered on ‘The Power of Culture’ to showcase the charm of cultural arts transcending eras. The 2022 theme ‘The Power of Culture Flowing Proudly’ evolved into 2023’s ‘The Power of Culture Crossing Rivers and Seas,’ offering differentiated stages such as fashion shows, musicals, K-POP, and game music.
This year, over the three days of the festival, a comprehensive performing arts program was presented on a 55-meter giant LED stage shaped like Songpa’s skyline, featuring fantastic performances ranging from traditional music to contemporary dance, popular songs, fusion music, and a drone show.
Seo Gangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “The Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival has established itself as a representative festival in Korea, attracting 300,000 visitors annually. Approximately 300,000 people attended this year’s high-quality cultural and arts festival held in Songpa-gu, consistent with previous years.”

Seodaemun-gu’s 2024 Sinchon Global University Culture Festival Enjoyed by 760,000 Over Three Days
University DJ parties, street cheering events, wish-fulfilling rice cake pounding, E-sports tournaments, Hanbok fashion shows held successfully
During the festival period (September 27-29), a vibrant festival space blending universities, local communities, and global cultures extended into the night
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) reported that during the ‘2024 Sinchon Global University Culture Festival’ held from September 27 to 29 around Yonsei-ro, Myeongmul Street, and Changcheon Cultural Park in Sinchon, the floating population reached approximately 760,000, about a 79% increase compared to usual.
This figure is based on analysis from ‘floating population sensors’ installed at six key points near Yonsei-ro by the district, showing a 59% increase compared to last year’s first festival. Due to the university area’s characteristics, Fridays are usually the busiest in Sinchon, but during this festival, the floating population on the second and third days (Saturday and Sunday) was about twice as high.
On pleasantly cool early autumn days after the heatwave, young people from home and abroad, as well as families, gathered in groups to enjoy the youthful and romantic streets of Sinchon.
The festival, which involved international students, foreign embassies in Korea, universities, and local communities, began on the 27th with a global street parade, a congratulatory performance by the Ham Shin-ik Symphony Song Orchestra, and an opening ceremony attended by foreign ambassadors. On the 28th, events included a university DJ party, K-POP random play dance, and street cheering with Yonsei University’s cheering squad. On the 29th, cooking contests, wish-fulfilling rice cake pounding, E-sports competitions, Hanbok fashion shows, and closing performances took place.
Additionally, various booths featuring global culture and tourism content operated in the ▲Global Zone ▲World Food Zone ▲University Zone ▲Youth Zone, attracting many visitors.
Mayor Lee Seongheon said, “Following last year, I am pleased that the Sinchon Global University Culture Festival, prepared jointly by Seodaemun-gu and university students, was successfully held for the second consecutive year, establishing itself as a venue where young university students from Korea and around the world exchange diverse cultural content.”
