Lee Jae-myung Uploads Call Recording File, Saying "Judge for Yourself if There Was Perjury Coaching"

Prosecutors demand 3-year prison sentence... Sentencing on November 25

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, shared the original audio file related to the perjury coaching charge and said, "Judge for yourself whether it is perjury coaching," after the prosecution demanded a 3-year prison sentence.

On the 1st, Lee posted on his Facebook a post titled "Original call file, judge for yourself whether it is perjury coaching," sharing the perjury coaching case audio file uploaded two months ago on the YouTube channel 'Park Gyuntaek TV,' operated by Democratic Party lawmaker Park Gyuntaek.

Lee explained, "The prosecution's indictment states that 'there was perjury coaching to frame Lee Jae-myung as the main culprit between KBS and former Seongnam Mayor Kim Byeong-ryang by negotiating the withdrawal of a complaint against former KBS PD Choi Cheol-ho,' and that former Seongnam Mayor Kim Jinsung's secretary accepted and committed perjury." He added, "According to the recording, Kim Jinsung admits the negotiation but says he does not know who negotiated. Kim Jinsung then explains in detail over about 10 minutes on the phone to Lee Jae-myung's lawyer the 'negotiation content heard from former Mayor Kim Byeong-ryang.'" Regarding this, Lee questioned, "(Kim Jinsung) is a key aide to the mayor, election manager, and complaint agent, yet he doesn't even know about the negotiation? Could Lee Jae-myung possibly imagine that Kim Jinsung did not know about the negotiation?"

The prosecution demanded a 3-year prison sentence on the 30th of last month for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was indicted on charges of requesting perjury from Kim Jinsung, the late former Seongnam Mayor Kim Byeong-ryang's personal secretary. They also demanded a 10-month prison sentence for Kim Jinsung, who was co-indicted on perjury charges. Lee's first trial sentencing date is scheduled for the 25th of next month.

Meanwhile, some of Lee's supporters have launched a campaign to send petitions to the court pleading for his innocence. On the online community 'Jaemyeong's Village,' where Lee's supporters mainly gather, a post with a petition form was recently uploaded. The petition states, "We must correct the prosecution's fabricated criminal acts that slander innocent people through forced indictments and case manipulations to eliminate political rivals and protect the collapsing democracy. We earnestly ask the court, the last bastion of judicial justice, to rectify this with a fair trial result."
