Hatem Dowidar, CEO of UAE telecommunications company e& Group, said this on the 1st at the 'M360 APAC' event hosted by GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), where Asia-Pacific telecom operators gather to review and exchange industry insights.


At the event held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, Dowidar, who gave the keynote speech, said, "We maximized customer value through customer data analysis and considered ways to improve services," adding, "There are really many things AI can do. We have opened a fully automated store."


He explained, "It is a store where you can purchase anything from accessories to smartphones at any time by integrating various technologies such as AI and robots," and added, "The second store recently opened, and there are plans to open more."


Dowidar CEO said, "The UAE established a dedicated AI ministry in 2019," and explained, "There is a minister responsible for AI who oversees the services."


He stated, "We have the conditions to try better services and can conduct various experiments related to autonomous vehicles." He continued, "There are more opportunities from the perspectives of both consumers and businesses," and said, "AI utilization technologies can be quickly introduced on ultra-high-speed 5G networks."


Recently, he introduced that they have been able to accelerate product process operations by conducting a 'private 5G' project with an oil company, and that the application areas of AI technologies such as cybersecurity are expanding.


Dowidar CEO emphasized the importance of building appropriate infrastructure and corporate investment to achieve innovation in the AI era. He said, "Providing proper 5G infrastructure and active investment by telecom operators are important," and predicted, "AI services applying the latest technologies will ultimately be realized in 6G."


Meanwhile, the speech was attended by KT CEO Kim Young-seop, GSMA Secretary-General Mats Granryd, Samsung Electronics Network Business Division President (CEO) Kim Woo-jun, among others, who presented directions for industrial development, technical and economic opportunities, and future visions in the AI era. Minister Yoo Sang-im of the Ministry of Science and ICT gave a congratulatory address.
