A man in his 20s who assaulted a female employee at Pyeongsan Bookstore in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, operated by former President Moon Jae-in, has been indicted and detained for trial.

The Criminal Division 2 of the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Ilkwon) announced on the 30th that they have indicted Mr. A in his 20s on charges of causing bodily injury and property damage, and he is currently in custody.

According to the prosecution, on September 8 at around 6:50 p.m., Mr. A assaulted Ms. B, a female employee in her 40s, multiple times with his hands and feet at Pyeongsan Bookstore, causing injuries that require six weeks of recovery, and also seized and damaged her mobile phone.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A, without any clear basis, believed that a major disaster would occur during the Chuseok holiday and decided to visit Pyeongsan Bookstore to ask former President Moon to prevent such a disaster.

It was found that Mr. A assaulted Ms. B after she responded to his demand to meet former President Moon by saying, "The business is closed, so please leave."

At the time, the board of Pyeongsan Bookstore issued a statement demanding a thorough investigation, stating, "The victim's left arm, ribs, and spine were fractured, and there was a severe swelling on the back of her head."

The prosecution analyzed, through clinical psychological assessment and other investigations, that Mr. A committed the crime in a state of excessive self-consciousness due to schizophrenia.

However, it was reported that no evidence was found to suggest any particular political motive in Mr. A's actions.
