Major 7 Cement Companies Collaborate to Establish
Support for Latest Medical Devices and Scholarship Programs, etc.
The 'Cement Industry Social Contribution Foundation,' established for the development of regions responsible for domestic cement production, has celebrated its first anniversary.
The Cement Industry Social Contribution Foundation announced on the 30th that it marked its first anniversary on the 22nd.
The foundation was created by contributions from seven major domestic cement companies: Sampyo Cement, Ssangyong C&E, Hanil Cement, Hanil Hyundai Cement, Asia Cement, Sungshin Cement, and Halla Cement. Since being established in regions where cement production is based, it has unified social contribution activities that each company had been conducting separately for over 60 years, aiming to jointly address and find solutions for key issues such as revitalizing the local economy and the crisis of population decline faced commonly by these areas.
Additionally, existing community service, donation activities, and regional return projects are selected through public proposals for desired projects by region, strengthening focus on objective and effective projects. The foundation works to comprehensively coordinate programs tailored to the expectations of local communities and residents near production plants. Major projects include providing the latest medical equipment to support medically underserved areas, supporting challenges for people with disabilities in marginalized groups, and regional culture, education, and scholarship projects to revitalize depopulated areas.
On its first anniversary, the foundation plans to pursue 'Collective Impact' by fostering understanding and cooperation among various stakeholders such as local governments, communities, and cement companies in areas surrounding cement plants to bring about change and highly effective results. As part of this, it will focus on social contribution projects necessary to sustainably improve the local environment and economy through initiatives such as 'regional regeneration projects.'
