"Honey Harvesting at Construction Site"... DL E&C Establishes Apiary at Metropolitan Area Site

DL E&C recently announced on the 30th that it is creating and operating an 'urban apiary' at domestic construction sites to restore the ecosystem of honeybees, whose population is rapidly declining. This is the first time a domestic construction company has established an urban apiary at a construction site to preserve biodiversity.

"Honey Harvesting at Construction Site"... DL E&C Establishes Apiary at Metropolitan Area Site

Earlier this month, DL E&C harvested about 11 kg of natural honey. This was the result of establishing an urban apiary at a construction site in the metropolitan area in May and operating it for about four months. Site workers wore beekeeping hats and work clothes and regularly inspected the consumption chambers (honeycombs) inside the beehives. DL E&C explained that the collected honey was made into honey water and delivered for the health of the site workers.

To encourage all site workers to participate in environmental protection activities, DL E&C also created a queen bee character named 'Bongsuni.' The character was attached to waste disposal sites, recycling stations, and wheel washing stations within the site, urging workers to actively participate in environmental protection to protect Bongsuni.

DL E&C plans to actively consider expanding the urban apiary to other sites. A site worker in charge of managing the urban apiary said, "At first, I wondered if honeybees could thrive at a construction site, but seeing their population grow faster than expected made me feel the wonders of nature," adding, "I am determined to manage the site more thoroughly to protect various natural ecosystems in the future."

DL E&C has consistently carried out 'Clear Sharing' activities for environmental protection as part of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management. These include the 'Carbon Footprint Reduction Campaign,' which implements guidelines to reduce carbon emissions in daily life in cooperation with Jongno District Office, and the 'Paper Cup Zero Campaign,' aiming to reduce about 620,000 disposable items annually. The company is also conducting a project to convert all corporate vehicles to electric cars by 2030.

A DL E&C official stated, "Environmental protection and ecosystem conservation are not options but necessities for sustainable corporate management," and added, "We will continue to strive to fulfill the company's social responsibilities through strengthening ESG management."
