Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun "Will Establish a Thorough Disaster Prevention and Response System"
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province will implement a large-scale administrative reorganization to strengthen disaster response, effective from the 1st of next month.
The city explained that this reorganization aims to prevent the recurrence of accidents like the fire at the Arisel factory in the Jeongok Marine General Industrial Complex in Seosin-myeon that occurred last June, and to establish a systematic post-incident response system.
To this end, the city will separate disaster prevention and response tasks previously handled by the existing Safety Policy Division and create a new "Disaster Response Division." The Disaster Response Division will be responsible for prompt and systematic responses in the event of an accident.
To improve labor conditions and protect foreign workers, a "Labor-Management Cooperation Division" will also be established. This division will focus on ▲industrial safety ▲protection of workers' rights ▲support for migrant workers. The aim is to systematically manage safety issues in the workplace while strengthening capabilities to protect labor rights.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "This organizational reorganization reflects the city's strong determination to prevent loss of life and property damage during disaster situations and to ensure that such tragedies never happen again." He added, "We will thoroughly manage everything from disaster prevention to response to establish a system that protects the lives and safety of our citizens."
