At a regular press briefing on the same day, Woo Jong-su, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, said, "Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, has changed internal policies to provide phone numbers and access IPs to investigative authorities," adding, "It is necessary to observe whether this is actually implemented."
With the special intensive crackdown on deepfake sex crimes underway, the number of reports has reached an average of 12.66 cases per day. From the 28th of last month to the 25th of this month, 367 cases of deepfake sex crimes were reported, averaging 12.66 cases per day. This is about seven times higher than before the intensive crackdown (1.85 cases per day). The number of suspects arrested this year is 387. By age group, there are 324 teenagers (including 66 juvenile offenders under the age of criminal responsibility), 50 in their 20s, 9 in their 30s, 2 in their 40s, and 2 aged 50 or older.
The police began the special intensive crackdown on deepfake sex crimes on the 28th of last month. For seven months until March 31 of next year, the cyber sexual violence investigation teams of city and provincial police agencies will actively conduct crackdowns, thoroughly tracking and arresting from the production to the distribution of deepfakes.
