Customized Transportation Services for the Transportation Vulnerable
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam will operate 29 voucher taxis starting from noon on October 1 to guarantee the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable individuals and resolve inconveniences.
The 'voucher taxi' is a service in which regular taxis, usually operating for the general public, are converted into voucher taxis when there is a dispatch request from a non-wheelchair transportation-vulnerable person. This service is only available to residents of Hapcheon County who are registered as members for special transportation services.
With the introduction of voucher taxis, the convenience of transportation for the mobility-impaired is expected to improve significantly. Customers who use wheelchairs and have difficulty moving can continue to use the existing special transportation services (previously called disabled call taxis), while customers who do not use wheelchairs can use voucher taxis first, thereby expanding their transportation options.
The voucher taxis operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the service area is limited to within Hapcheon County. The fare is 2,000 won, with a monthly usage limit of 100,000 won.
Kang Hongseok, Head of the Construction and Transportation Division, stated, "With the introduction of voucher taxis, we expect the satisfaction with transportation services among the transportation-vulnerable to increase," and added, "True to the name 'Wellness Hapcheon,' we will continue to do our best to improve the transportation environment and make the city a better place to live."
