Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that from the 23rd to the 27th, applications were received for 12 out of the 16 target areas in the "Midong 1st Phase New Town Aged Planned Urban Maintenance Leading District Selection Contest."

The submitted resident consent rates ranged from a minimum of 51% to a maximum of 93%, and the city will begin a full-scale verification process regarding the resident consent rates stated in the contest applications.

The city also plans to form a "Leading District Selection Evaluation Committee" to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation and review for the selection of leading districts, which will be held between October and November. The committee will conduct evaluations and reviews of the application areas based on the evaluation criteria for leading district selection announced in June.

According to the leading district selection evaluation criteria, the evaluation items (scoring) total 100 points, consisting of ▲ resident consent rate (70 points), ▲ urgency of improving residential environment such as parking conditions within the target area (10 points), ▲ number of housing complexes participating in integrated maintenance (10 points), and number of participating households (10 points).

After the evaluation and review for the leading district selection are completed, the city plans to finalize and announce the leading districts after consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport regarding the scale of selection in November and December.

Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon, said, "Since residents have made great efforts to be selected as leading districts, we will thoroughly verify the consent rates and conduct the evaluation for leading district selection fairly and transparently."

He added, "Even if an area is not selected as a leading district this year, the annual maintenance volume of 4,000 households will be managed according to the annual plan under the Special Maintenance Basic Plan, so areas wishing for integrated reconstruction in the future will receive prompt administrative processing and support without discrimination from the leading districts."
