2025 Living Wage Hourly Rate Set at 11,779 Won, Monthly Salary 2,461,811 Won
1,749 Won Hourly and 365,541 Won Monthly More Than Next Year's Minimum Wage of 10,030 Won
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that the 2025 living wage has been set at 11,779 KRW per hour.
The living wage system refers to a wage structure that guarantees a level of income somewhat higher than the minimum wage by comprehensively considering housing costs, education expenses, and inflation rates to ensure workers a minimum standard of dignified living.
The Geumcheon-gu Living Wage Committee deliberated and approved the living wage on the 25th after comprehensively considering inflation rates and the district's financial situation.
The 2025 Geumcheon-gu living wage is 11,749 KRW higher than next year's minimum wage of 10,030 KRW per hour, representing 117.4% of the minimum wage, and it is a 3% increase from this year's living wage of 11,436 KRW. Based on 209 hours per month, this amounts to 2,461,811 KRW, which is 365,541 KRW more than the minimum wage.
Accordingly, workers at the district office and affiliated organizations (Geumcheon Facilities Management Corporation, Geumcheon Cultural Foundation, Geumcheon Job Corporation) who are subject to the living wage will receive an increase of 71,687 KRW per month starting January 1 next year. However, workers who already earn above the living wage are excluded from this application.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope the living wage system will help stabilize the economic lives of workers,” and added, “We will continue to strive to improve workers' rights and interests.”
Geumcheon-gu enacted the living wage ordinance in October 2015 and has been implementing the living wage system since 2016.
