Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, emphasized that SK Siltron's U.S. subsidiary, SK Siltron CSS, which operates a silicon carbide (SiC) wafer factory in Bay City, Michigan, is proof of the success of the Korea-U.S. partnership.
On the 27th, Chairman Choi stated through social media (SNS), "SK Siltron CSS recently confirmed the positive impact of the partnership from officials of both the United States and South Korea."
He also shared that Philip Goldberg, U.S. Ambassador to Korea, and Cho Hyun-dong, Korean Ambassador to the U.S., were invited to the SK Siltron CSS Bay City factory, where they toured the manufacturing site and discussed Korea-U.S. trade relations.
Chairman Choi added, "SK Siltron CSS invited Ambassador Goldberg and Ambassador Cho to introduce how SK affiliates across the U.S., including Michigan, create skilled jobs, lead innovation, and build future industries. When SK Siltron acquired this company, it operated a single factory in Auburn, Michigan, and the expansion of this facility to nearby Bay City is evidence of the success of the Korea-U.S. partnership."
He continued, "Based on the partnership between the two countries, SK Group has invested approximately $30 billion since 2019 in American companies supporting future industries such as semiconductors, new energy, and life sciences."
