Promoting Cooking Experience Education Using Smart Farm and Job Experience Program for Elementary Students
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) installed the ‘DDM Smart Farm’ on the first floor of the Jangan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and held an opening ceremony on the 27th.
The smart farm is a future agricultural technology that uses advanced technologies such as growth environment control (temperature and humidity), automatic watering, and LED artificial lighting to cultivate crops without being affected by external environments.
The district installed a total of eight smart farms in the lobby and healthcare room on the first floor of the Jangan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, creating an environment where vegetables, ginseng, flowers, and more can be grown.
At the opening ceremony, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and about 30 senior citizens using the welfare center attended and held an unveiling ceremony, followed by a tour of the newly established smart farm facilities.
Afterwards, a hands-on program was conducted where participants made sandwiches and ginseng tea using crops grown in the smart farm.
Dongdaemun-gu plans to utilize the smart farm facilities to operate ▲ cooking experience education ▲ experiential and educational programs for slow learners ▲ job experience programs for elementary school students.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Through the smart farm, we will promote the fact that efficient and sustainable agriculture is possible even in urban areas and lead a future-oriented agricultural culture in cooperation with the local community.”
