To widely raise awareness of the difficulties and sacrifices faced by military families, the Ministry of National Defense amended the Military Welfare Basic Act to designate the Friday before Armed Forces Day, October 1st, as ‘Military Family Day’ starting this year.
The event was attended by about 200 military family members, including Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju, National Assembly members Jeong Seong-ho and Kim Seong-won, Yoon Chang-cheol, Chairman of the Yangju City Council, council members, and Kim Byung-gi, commander of the 5th Armored Brigade, to celebrate ‘Military Family Day.’
The event featured various programs such as outdoor performances, providing attendees with a valuable opportunity to communicate and unite with one another.
On this day, Mayor Kang expressed deep gratitude by presenting commendations to soldiers and military families who have contributed to the development of city administration through dedicated efforts in civil-military cooperation with a strong sense of mission and responsibility, and who have personally demonstrated exceptional sacrifice and devotion.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju stated, “Safety and peace are founded on the sacrifices and efforts of military families,” adding, “We will always remember this dedication and do our best to respect and support military families who continue to sacrifice and serve the nation.”
