Preparing for Full Implementation of the High School Credit System... Over 3,000 Teachers in the Province
Five Consecutive Sessions Starting from the 28th... Establishing a Subject-Specific Responsible Education System
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) is conducting the '2022 Revised Curriculum Subject-Specific Assessment Competency Enhancement Training' for about 3,000 high school teachers in the province. This is intended to improve teachers' assessment competencies by subject ahead of the full implementation of the high school credit system in the 2025 academic year.
This training will be conducted across all high school subjects, moving beyond the previously focused subjects. It plans to intensively support understanding of the subject curriculum and strengthening of assessment operation capabilities in accordance with the application of the 2022 revised curriculum.
The main contents include ▲ the 2022 revised curriculum and achievement assessment system ▲ curriculum analysis and assessment planning ▲ the concept and application of split scoring ▲ ensuring minimum achievement levels, among others.
The training is divided into basic and advanced courses to enhance understanding and execution of the curriculum. To increase educational efficiency, the basic course will be conducted remotely, while the advanced course will be held in person.
The advanced course will be held five times from the 28th of this month to October 19th at Kyung Hee University’s Seoul Campus and International Campus (Suwon), respectively. Experienced instructors with rich educational experience and expertise will be appointed to lead practical sessions involving Q&A, case sharing, discussions, and hands-on activities to encourage learner participation.
Kim Yoon-gi, Director of Curriculum Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, “With the introduction of the high school credit system, teachers’ subject-specific assessments must also change. We hope this training will help teachers operate student assessments that support students’ development and growth ahead of the application of the 2022 revised curriculum and the high school credit system.”
