Announcement of 25 Finalist Teams Out of 136
Final Winners to Be Decided at Kaeseong Insam Festival on October 19
Gyeonggi Paju City announced on the 27th that it has completed the recruitment of participants for the "15th Paju Jangdan Sambaek Cuisine National Competition" and selected 25 teams for the finals, with the results announced on the 25th.
Now in its 15th year, the Jangdan Sambaek Cuisine Competition is an event planned to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by developing and promoting creative dishes using Paju's agricultural specialties, Jangdan Sambaek (Jangdan soybeans, Kaesong ginseng, Hansu rice) as the main ingredients. The competition will be held at Imjingak Square, where the Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival takes place, starting at 9 a.m. on October 19.
This year, a total of 136 teams submitted applications, and among them, 25 teams were selected through document screening to advance to the finals. These teams will compete on-site on the day of the competition, and the final awards will be decided with 10 teams receiving main prizes and 15 teams receiving honorable mentions.
The main prizes include: 1 Grand Prize team (cash prize of 2 million KRW and a certificate from the Mayor of Paju), 2 Gold Prize teams (each with a cash prize of 1 million KRW and a certificate from a National Assembly member), 2 Silver Prize teams (each with a cash prize of 700,000 KRW and a certificate from the Chairperson of the Paju City Council), 2 Bronze Prize teams (each with a cash prize of 500,000 KRW and a certificate from the Mayor of Paju), and 3 Encouragement Prize teams (each with a cash prize of 300,000 KRW and a certificate from the Mayor of Paju). Additionally, 15 Honorable Mention teams will each receive a cash prize of 150,000 KRW and a certificate from the Mayor of Paju.
Jang Yeon-hee, Director of the Sanitation Division, said, “As many people from across the country apply and show interest in every competition, we will make further efforts to ensure that this competition widely promotes the excellence and taste of Paju’s Jangdan Sambaek (Jangdan soybeans, Kaesong ginseng, Hansu rice).”
