Paju-si Selected as 'Best Institution' at Waste Banner Resource Circulation Competition Friendly Eco-friendly Banner Certification Mark.

On the 27th, Paju City in Gyeonggi announced that it was selected as the Best Public Sector (Local Government) Institution at the ‘2024 Waste Banner Resource Circulation Culture Promotion Contest’ held on the 25th, receiving a commendation from the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

In December last year, Paju City became the first in the nation to enact an eco-friendly banner ordinance and has since implemented several effective measures for the resource circulation of waste banners.

The city is promoting projects related to the use of eco-friendly banners and waste banner resource circulation policies, including △operating the ‘Eco-Friendly Banner Material Usage Compensation System’ △developing its own eco-friendly banner design guideline called ‘Sangnyang (Eco-Friendly Banner)’ △operating ‘Designated Posting Boards Exclusively for Eco-Friendly Banners’ △holding fashion shows utilizing waste banners △signing win-win agreements with local resource circulation companies △and running a signboard culture school.

At the contest, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated Paju City’s achievements by stating, “Starting with Paju City, these various policies serve as a model for other local governments and have become an opportunity to spread waste banner resource circulation nationwide.”

Mayor Kim Kyung-il said, “Paju City, moving toward a sustainable city that responds to the decarbonization and plastic-free era, has had its ‘eco-friendly outdoor advertising’ policies recognized externally. We will take the lead in sharing Paju’s best practices with other local governments to further activate the utilization of waste banners.”

Meanwhile, the excellent cases selected through the ‘2024 Waste Banner Resource Circulation Culture Promotion Contest,’ including Paju City’s policies, will be exhibited at the ‘Korea ESG Environment Expo’ to be held at COEX in Seoul from the 10th to the 12th of next month.
