Gyeongnam Information College Elderly and Disabled Integrated Care Oral Health Management Educator Training Course Completion Ceremony.
This training program was conducted as part of the Regional Innovation Project (RIS) based on local government-university cooperation. From August 16, a total of 22 participants completed one month of theoretical and practical training, as well as field practice.
Starting in October, the graduates will visit 16 elderly individuals who are part of the customized elderly care program and 2 home-based long-term care patients in connection with the Busan Care Medical Welfare Social Cooperative, to provide oral health education.
Specifically, the program will deliver oral health management education, including oral muscle massage, oral hygiene management methods, and oral exercises, targeting elderly individuals who are on the borderline of being admitted to nursing hospitals.
Kim Jiyeong, professor of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology and head of the project, said, "We hope the graduates will fully demonstrate their capabilities as oral health management educators to promote oral health among vulnerable groups who have difficulty managing oral hygiene."
The Department of Dental Hygiene at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology is conducting employment-guaranteed customized education to foster practical digital dental professionals. In particular, it has gained positive feedback from students by operating a national exam preparation class and establishing field-mirror-type practice labs, thus securing differentiated competitiveness.
