The Yongin Fire Station won the Grand Prize at the "1st Pumbulance Team-CPR Competition" hosted by the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 27th that on the 26th, 11 teams who passed the first preliminary round held on the 23rd and 24th competed at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Safety Maru under the assumption that a cardiac arrest emergency patient had occurred. The competition involved cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator, with Yongin Fire Station winning the Grand Prize, and Gimpo Fire Station and Ilsan Fire Station receiving the Excellence Award and Encouragement Award, respectively.
Pumbulance is a term combining fire pump truck and ambulance, referring to a dispatch system where a fire pump truck supports ambulance activities by substituting for the ambulance when it is dispatched and a gap arises.
This competition was held to improve the survival rate of severe emergency patients such as those with cardiac arrest through teamwork training of Pumbulance crew members for rapid initial emergency treatment.
Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "We expect this competition to greatly help improve rapid emergency treatment capabilities and survival rates for severe emergency patients," adding, "We will continue to strengthen professional training and regularly hold such competitions to increase the spontaneous circulation recovery rate of cardiac arrest patients."
