Utilizing Policy Surveys to Discover Customized Single-Person Household Projects
Jung-gu District in Seoul will provide welcome kits starting from the 1st of next month to single-person households aged 19 to 64 who have moved into Jung-gu from other cities, provinces, or districts.
The welcome kit support project was selected as the grand prize winner in the 2024 Resident Policy Idea Contest. As of the end of July, Jung-gu has 65,338 households, of which 35,169 are single-person households, accounting for 53.8%. This is the second highest proportion of single-person households among Seoul’s districts.
Accordingly, the district will support initial settlement by providing a lifestyle guide containing information for single-person households, including online and offline communities and programs, along with daily necessities such as volume-based waste bags. Additionally, a policy survey targeting single-person households will be conducted to help discover customized projects in the future.
From the 1st of next month, heads of single-person households aged 19 to 64 who have moved into Jung-gu can apply for the welcome kit support online via Jung-gu’s social networking service (SNS) or by scanning the QR code on promotional materials, or they can visit the local community service center in person to apply when registering their move.
Furthermore, Jung-gu is conducting various events that care for mental and physical health, such as reading challenges, birthday fruit gifts, and walking certification challenges. Customized education such as financial education and monthly rent contract counseling mentoring is also provided.
In addition, programs like the Healing Class Single Bell, Taste Sharing DIY for our group, and Social Dining Happy Table for middle-aged and older single-person households support hobbies and leisure activities.
A district official stated, “We are supporting the rapidly increasing number of single-person households in various ways to help them form social networks, and through policy surveys, we will continue to discover and implement customized projects.”
