Goyang-si Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for 'Lifelong Learning Center and Comprehensive Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled'

Dream Center Built in Haengsin-dong Equipped with Education, Welfare, and Business Facilities

Goyang-si Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for 'Lifelong Learning Center and Comprehensive Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled' Goyang City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Lifelong Learning Center and Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled" on the 26th in Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang City.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 27th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Lifelong Learning Center and Comprehensive Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled' on the 26th in Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang City.

The event was attended by Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City, National Assembly member Han Jun-ho, other local politicians, as well as residents and the Residents' Autonomy Committee of Haengsin-dong, celebrating the start of the Dream Center.

The newly constructed facility will be a building with two basement floors and seven above-ground floors, designed to include a lifelong learning center, welfare facilities for the disabled, as well as convenience facilities for residents and spaces for business tenants.

The first and second floors will house facilities for cultural, artistic, and athletic activities for the disabled, which is expected to significantly improve the previously insufficient welfare conditions. In particular, since existing welfare facilities for the disabled were concentrated in specific areas causing inconvenience and difficulties, accessibility to the facilities is expected to greatly improve.

The third floor will be dedicated to the lifelong learning center. It will serve as a hub to enhance the region’s learning capabilities, form and build a learning network for the entire community, and research, develop, and disseminate policies suited to lifelong learning demands, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life for citizens.

From the fourth to the seventh floors, spaces will be allocated for business tenants within the center to activate local startups and foster customized strategic industries. This is expected to contribute to securing quality jobs and strengthening self-sufficiency functions, thereby enhancing the city’s competitiveness.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, “The 'Lifelong Learning Center and Comprehensive Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled' is a welfare facility and self-sufficient urban facility that Goyang Special City has truly needed, so expectations are high,” and added, “We will make every effort to ensure the construction proceeds smoothly so that it can become a space loved by citizens.”
