Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold various commemorative events on October 2nd to celebrate the 19th “Pregnant Women’s Day” and to create a pregnancy- and childbirth-friendly social atmosphere.

Pregnant Women’s Day was established on October 10th by the Maternal and Child Health Act in 2005 and is celebrated annually. This date symbolizes October, a month of abundance and harvest, and the 10 months of pregnancy.

To commemorate the 19th Pregnant Women’s Day, the district will hold a commemorative event at Yeongdeungpo Art Square starting at 2 p.m. on October 2nd.

The event will feature various programs including ▲Flute Quartet “Dreaming Concert” ▲Horticultural Prenatal Education Program “Terrarium Making” ▲Distribution of “Attachment Doll Sewing Hand Prenatal Education Kit.”

At the “Dreaming Concert,” the group “Flute Quartet Ventus” will perform beautiful flute melodies such as the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, Air on the G String, and the OST from Spirited Away. This aims to help pregnant women achieve emotional stability and foster positive emotional sharing between mother and baby.

Following the concert, the horticultural prenatal education program “Terrarium Making” will take place. A terrarium involves planting plants in a transparent container like glass to create a small personal garden. Using plants such as moss, which are effective in purifying the air, this program particularly supports the respiratory health of pregnant women. The district provides a healing time for pregnant women to relieve stress and improve depression through interaction with plants.

In particular, the district will provide participating pregnant women with an “Attachment Doll Sewing Hand Prenatal Education Kit” to make baby items themselves. Pregnant women who receive the kit on the day of the event can refer to educational videos to create dolls at home while bonding with their babies.

Pregnant women who wish to participate can apply through the district office’s integrated reservation system on its website. Participation is limited to the first 60 applicants, and a space accommodating about 100 people including family members will be prepared.

Additionally, the district operates various programs for pregnant women such as ▲Pregnant Women Registration and Health Consultation ▲Maternal and Child Health Classes ▲Seoul Baby Health First Steps ▲Seoul Mom Visiting Happy Breastfeeding to promote positive awareness of pregnancy and childbirth and support health management.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope this event will provide a healthy prenatal education time where pregnant women and babies can heal together,” and added, “We will continue to actively promote various projects to add vitality to the daily lives of pregnant women and support a happy life.”
