Homeplus says "No Connection at All" to 'Goryeo Ayun Incident' Fallout

"Complaints of Significant Harm from Negative Mentions"

Homeplus has stated that it is completely unrelated to the stock tender offer initiated by Youngpoong and MBK Partners for the acquisition of control over Korea Zinc. Homeplus drew a clear line, denying any connection to the tender offer issue despite being mentioned due to MBK Partners being its major shareholder.

On the 26th, Homeplus said in a statement, "We are a completely unrelated third party to the Korea Zinc stock tender offer," and claimed, "Our company has suffered significant disruption to its operations due to being mentioned."

Homeplus added, "Even though the entire large mart industry is currently facing difficulties due to declining performance, Homeplus has continued to improve its results for two consecutive years through large-scale proactive investments such as transforming into 'Homeplus Mega Food Market' and strengthening online delivery infrastructure, opening up new possibilities," and further stated, "In the midst of this, it is extremely embarrassing that we are being negatively mentioned in connection with an issue that has nothing to do with our company."

Homeplus also appealed, "Homeplus has guaranteed job security for all employees without any restructuring," and requested, "Please ensure that no additional damage occurs due to negative remarks."

Earlier, the private equity fund MBK Partners acquired Homeplus in July 2015 for 7.2 trillion won.
