Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun Attends 'Gyeonggi-do Early Childhood Forest Education Conference' Yang Su-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, is delivering a greeting at the '2024 Gyeonggi-do Early Childhood Forest Education Conference' held on the 25th.

Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun attended the ‘2024 Gyeonggi-do Early Childhood Forest Education Conference’ held on the morning of the 25th at the Hoheamsaji Museum lawn and pine forest within the jurisdiction, and encouraged the efforts of the officials who worked hard to prepare for the event.


Co-supported by Gyeonggi-do and Yangju City and organized and hosted by the Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Forest Kindergarten Association (Chairman Lee Woo-kyung), the conference was attended by about 900 people, including Mayor Kang Su-hyun, City Council Chairman Yoon Chang-chul, and city and provincial council members.


The Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Forest Kindergarten Association was founded in 2011 and is now in its 13th year, currently comprising about 140 institutions with 3,000 childcare staff and about 8,000 young members.


The event, which opened with a choir performance and pledge by the ‘Early Childhood Forest Love Group,’ featured various experiential activities to promote forest education, including ▲Nature Experience Yard ▲Forest Culture Experience Yard ▲Fire Safety Experience Yard ▲Insect Experience Yard ▲Carbon Neutrality and Environmental Sensitivity Experience Classroom.


Additionally, booth experiences such as ▲Tree Play Yard ▲Natural Food Yard ▲Making Insects from Natural Materials were operated together, captivating the five senses of attendees and reportedly receiving great responses.


Chairman Lee Woo-kyung said, “I believe that through today’s event, participating children and institutions will take the lead in carbon neutrality and become leaders who practice love for life,” adding, “Our Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Forest Kindergarten Association will continuously contemplate and strive for happy encounters between forests and children.”


Mayor Kang Su-hyun expressed, “I deeply thank the officials of the Korea Forest Kindergarten Association who are working hard to provide good forest education to children,” and stated, “Yangju City will also focus on expanding diverse forest experience programs and high-quality forest education services for children and continue to support these efforts.”


Meanwhile, according to provincial officials, the ‘2025 Gyeonggi-do Early Childhood Forest Education Conference’ is scheduled to be held next year in Siheung City, Gyeonggi-do.
