The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 26th that it will select 112 dedicated administrative personnel, called Neulbom Support Office Directors (contract-based educational researchers), and assign them to public elementary and special schools in the province as of March 1 next year.
This year, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education operated 180 Neulbom Leading Schools in the first semester. From the second semester, Neulbom Schools have been implemented in all elementary schools (468) and special schools (8) in the province.
Following the Neulbom School implementation roadmap, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to operate a dedicated organization called the ‘Neulbom Support Office’ and systematically support school operations by assigning dedicated administrative personnel such as the Neulbom Support Office Director and Neulbom Administrative Assistant.
Since July, one temporary Neulbom Administrative Assistant has been assigned to each elementary and special school in Gyeongbuk Province to reduce teachers’ workload related to Neulbom School. The newly selected Neulbom Support Office Directors, who are current teachers, will be given the status of educational researcher for a fixed term (two years) and will return to their original teaching positions after their term ends.
The number of Neulbom Support Office Directors to be assigned will total 163, with 112 in 2025 (111 public elementary school teachers and 1 public special school teacher) and 51 in 2026 (public elementary school teachers).
In principle, Neulbom Support Office Directors will work at their assigned schools, overseeing all Neulbom School-related tasks and supervising related personnel. They will also take on planning and coordination duties for Neulbom School, which were previously handled by vice principals and after-school (care) department heads.
The selection process for Neulbom Support Office Directors consists of a first round of document screening and basic competency evaluation, followed by a second round of competency assessment. The 112 final candidates will be assigned to schools starting March 2025. The public announcement regarding the selection process will be released early next month.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, “We will select Neulbom Support Office Directors with expertise through a transparent and fair process,” and added, “We will actively support Neulbom School so that it can be established more systematically and stably.”
