Hanam-si Invests 9.7 Billion Won in 9 Projects Including School Security Officer Program
On the 25th, Lee Hyun-jae, Mayor of Hanam City, explained the current status of educational support and listened to opinions on educational programs at the '2024 Elementary School Principals Meeting' held in the city hall situation room, attended by about 30 people including elementary school principals in the district and officials from the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education. Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) explained the current status of educational support and listened to opinions on educational programs at the ‘2024 Elementary School Principals’ Meeting’ held on the 25th in the city hall situation room, attended by about 30 people including elementary school principals in the district and officials from the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education.
This elementary school principals’ meeting was planned to communicate on major educational issues and to hear difficulties and suggestions from the educational field related to these issues in order to reflect them in city administration.
Hanam City first introduced its educational support projects on this day.
This year, Hanam City is investing a total budget of 9.7 billion KRW to help elementary students grow into healthy and safe future talents by implementing nine subsidy support projects including ▲school security officer operation ▲school characteristic projects ▲native English-speaking assistant teachers ▲school facility environment improvement projects ▲free meals and after-school care classroom operation support.
In addition, Hanam City introduced policy efforts for overall educational environment improvement such as ▲university campus tours visiting 12 universities including Seoul National University ▲corporate experiences at companies like Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors ▲implementation of elementary school security officers, walking school buses, and Hanam-type school zones.
Elementary school principals, officials from the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education, and Hanam City Hall who attended the meeting proposed suggestions including ▲cooperation to secure waiting spaces for experiential learning buses ▲request for deployment of safety personnel related to school facility construction ▲improvement of facilities such as school restrooms ▲support for character education to prevent school violence ▲mowing grass and sidewalk maintenance around schools, and discussed solutions for these issues together.
Mayor Lee listened attentively to the opinions raised on this day and promised to continue communication to improve the educational environment.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, “We consider ‘education’ as a key factor determining the city’s brand value and are carrying out various educational support projects to create an educational environment that nurtures students’ talents and aptitudes. Hanam City will continue to listen to the diverse voices of educational stakeholders and provide wholehearted support to make Hanam a city where students, parents, and teachers are all happy.”
Meanwhile, Hanam City plans to hold meetings with middle and high school principals consecutively.
