Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province will carry out intensive marine environment cleanup activities to ensure the successful hosting of large-scale events such as the 'Dalbitgorae Trekking' and the 'International H Wellness Festa', which will be held at the end of September and the beginning of October.

Yeongdeok County Prepares for Big Event with Intensive Coastal Cleanup by Sea Environment Keepers Yeongdeok County sea environment guardians are conducting marine cleanup activities.

Every year, Yeongdeok County selects Sea Environment Keepers and assigns 3 to 4 personnel to each of the six coastal towns and townships to continuously collect marine waste and monitor illegal dumping.

This year, since April, 22 Sea Environment Keepers have been selected and deployed. As of last year, 491 tons of discarded fishing nets and household waste washed ashore by typhoons and heavy rains were collected and processed.

This intensive marine environment cleanup is being carried out ahead of the nighttime trekking event 'Dalbitgorae Trekking', which will take place around the Yeongdeok Blue Road on the 28th, and the 'International H Wellness Festa', where visitors can experience global traditional medicine and modern wellness programs from October 3rd to 6th. With a large number of domestic and international visitors expected, Sea Environment Keepers will take the lead in beautifying the environment.

Jung Jehun, Head of the Marine and Fisheries Division, stated, "Collecting marine waste is a task carried out in areas with many risk factors, such as slippery terrain and high waves. We will do our utmost to ensure that all work is conducted with proper safety equipment and in accordance with accident prevention training and manuals."
