A Chinese woman who traveled to 42 cities worldwide with just 20,000 yuan (about 3.79 million KRW) is becoming a hot topic online. She revealed that her secret was meticulous 'price comparison' through portal sites.

On the 21st, Hong Kong media South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, "Recently, 'Xinxin (25)'s ultra-low-cost travel story has been gaining attention on Chinese social networking services (SNS)." According to the media, Xinxin is about to start working after earning a master's degree at a university in Yunnan Province.

Xinxin has traveled to 42 cities around the world, including China, Russia, Thailand, and Indonesia, but the total cost of her travels is less than 4 million KRW. The media stated, "Xinxin's case well illustrates the travel trend of the younger generation who travel on a low cost and low budget."

The secret to traveling to 42 cities at a low cost was meticulous 'price comparison.' Before traveling, Xinxin searched for the cheapest flights and train fares on portal sites to save money. In January this year, she spent about 750,000 KRW traveling from her hometown Jiangxi Province to Murmansk, Russia, to see the Northern Lights (Aurora). This included transportation costs of about 300,000 KRW from Wuhan to Beijing and then to Moscow, as well as domestic flights within Russia. She used points from ticket sales sites to travel from Jiangxi Province to Wuhan. Also, in Bali, Indonesia, she stayed at a cheap hotel costing about 15,000 KRW per night.

Xinxin said, "Many people tend to overestimate travel expenses, but what matters is the feeling you have when preparing for the trip," adding, "Traveling on a tight budget does not necessarily lead to a bad experience." She continued, "If you prepare thoroughly, you can achieve a lot with minimal costs," and said, "I carefully research transportation and accommodation costs before traveling and try to find hidden benefits on travel sites."

Domestic netizens who read Xinxin's travel story responded with various comments such as, "Price comparison is no easy task, impressive," "Staying at a place costing 10,000 KRW per night shows great determination," "Is that even possible?" "I think I would spend more money even going to Jeju Island," "Am I the only one who feels traveling is more like hardship?" and "How did she manage transportation costs? Did she hitchhike?"
