A Delightful Festival Where Local 'Matgwa Meot' Meet
Three Days from the 27th in the Jungang-ro Area
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Nogwan-gyu) announced that the representative festival of Suncheon combining local gourmet, culture, and art resources, "Delicious and Stylish on the Road" 2024 Suncheon Food & Art Festival, will be held for three days from the 27th to the 29th along Jungang-ro in Suncheon.
The "2024 Suncheon Food & Art Festival" will open its doors with an opening ceremony at 7 PM on the 27th at Nammunteo Square.

The opening ceremony’s theme performance, "Utopia in the City, Dreaming of Resurrection," will offer a multisensory experience to the audience with a variety of genres including b-boying, popping, and creative dance. Popular singers such as BvB Girl, Nayoung, and Hwang In-wook will enrich the night of the old downtown with celebratory performances.
On the second day, the 28th, star chef Park Chan-il’s book talk "Crying While Eating" will be held at the multipurpose hall on the second floor of Yeongdong 1st Street.
Chef Park Chan-il, who has built ties with the region through developing Suncheon-specialized dishes, will share his food philosophy and stories about life embedded in it.
Additionally, there will be a popular OST sing-along show and parade featuring the beloved character Bread Barber Shop, along with celebratory performances by DJ Madic and singer-songwriter Shaun.
On the final day, the 29th, citizens will participate together at Nambuteo Square to make Spanish-style fried rice "paella" using local ingredients, and the festival will conclude with celebratory performances by hip-hop artist B.O and DJ Jerry.
The festival venue will be organized into themed markets for food, art, and gardens, where Suncheon citizens will directly sell gourmet and art items reflecting the colors of the "local" community.
A city official said, "We hope that this year’s Food & Art Festival will revitalize the old downtown and allow tourists to feel the true charm of the local area," adding, "We hope everyone enjoys the delicious and stylish Suncheon so that the cheerful festival atmosphere fills the old downtown throughout the three days."
