Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) signed a site management service contract for the 3rd New Town Hanam Gyosan GH Zone with the Hanam Gyosan Residents' Livelihood Cooperative on the 24th. On the same day, both organizations donated 3 million won to the Gyeonggi-do Independent Preparation Support Agency.
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) signed a site management service contract on the 24th with the Hanam Gyosan Resident Livelihood Cooperative for the Hanam Gyosan GH zone in the 3rd New Town.
This contract is the first case where, after the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Public Housing Special Act in 2022, both the resident livelihood cooperative and the public institution as the client agreed on income support centered on site management services to resolve conflicts over the demolition of obstacles.
The resident livelihood cooperative will be responsible for preventing illegal structures and unauthorized development activities within the Hanam Gyosan GH zone for the next three years, managing the site to prevent fires and various accidents, monitoring unauthorized homeless occupancy of obstacles before demolition, and blocking illegal waste dumping.
The contract is worth 1.1 billion KRW, employing eight cooperative members for site management, and in case of business profits, distributing them equally among 192 cooperative members. GH explained that unlike existing contracts where only some members benefit, this plan allows all cooperative members to share profits fairly, which is meaningful.
Prior to this, the GH-Resident Cooperative Win-Win Agreement for the Hanam Gyosan district received the grand prize, the top award in the public institution category, at the ‘2024 Gyeonggi-do Active Administration Competition’.
Kim Seyong, President of GH, stated, "The site management service contract with the Hanam Gyosan Livelihood Cooperative will serve as a model case of resolving conflicts with local residents arising during new town development through active administration. GH will fulfill its role as a public institution that goes beyond being a developer to mediate community conflicts and prioritize residents' welfare and benefits."
Meanwhile, GH and the resident livelihood cooperative donated 3 million KRW to the Gyeonggi-do Self-Reliance Support Agency for Youth to support young people in Gyeonggi-do while signing the service contract on the same day.
