Hwacheon County Residents Festival 'Yonghwa Festival' to be Held on Next Month 10-11

Starting with Yonghwasan Shinje Ceremony... Sports Events Including Park Golf Held
On the 10th, 'Gunmin Day' Celebration Performances by Song Ga-in, Koyote, and More

Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Choi Moon-soon) announced on the 25th that the ‘40th Yonghwa Festival,’ a Hwacheon citizen unity festival, will open on the 10th of next month.

At the 39th Yonghwa Festival held last year, the residents of Hwacheon-gun are enjoying a joyful time.

Hosted by the Yonghwa Festival Committee and organized by the Hwacheon Cultural Center, the 40th Yonghwa Festival will be held over two days starting from the 10th at Hwacheon Sports Park, Hwacheon National Culture and Sports Center, Yongam-ri Park Golf Course, and other locations, with participation from residents of each eup and myeon.

The Yonghwa Festival begins at 11 a.m. on the 10th with the Yonghwa Mountain Spirit Ritual held at Yonghwa Mountain. On the 11th, the entrance of teams from each eup and myeon, the opening ceremony, and inter-eup and myeon sports events will take place around the Sports Park area.

The sports events start at 7:30 a.m. with a park golf tournament at Yongam Park Golf Course, followed by soccer, badminton, tennis, jokgu (foot volleyball), 10-person 11-leg race, group jump rope, group ball rolling, janggi (Korean chess), baduk (Go), gateball, tuho (arrow throwing), jegi (shuttlecock kicking), ssireum (Korean wrestling), hangung (Korean archery), tug of war, and relay races in sequence.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Hwacheon Citizens’ Day commemorative celebration performance will be held at 7 p.m. on the 10th at Bungeo Island Ground Golf Course. This year’s celebration will feature trot singer Song Ga-in, popular singer Park Hye-kyung, and Koyote, delivering an exciting stage for the citizens.

Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Hwacheon-gun, stated, “We will do our best to turn the united hearts of the citizens at the Yonghwa Festival into an opportunity for regional development.”
