Eleven domestic airlines, including Korean Air, jointly announced a charter emphasizing 'safety' as their top management priority once again.
On the 25th, Korean Air announced at the '2024 Aviation Safety Culture Forum' held at the Grand Hyatt Incheon in Jung-gu, Incheon, that it had resolved to improve aviation safety culture and establish a proactive safety management paradigm together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Aerospace University, and national airlines. At this event, Woo Ki-hong, CEO of Korean Air, along with CEOs of 11 domestic airlines and Heo Hee-young, president of Korea Aerospace University, signed the ‘Aviation Safety Culture Leadership Charter.’

During the forum sessions, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport presented on the topics of Korea’s safety culture, reporting culture, and the development of the national Safety Management System (SMS). Korea Aerospace University presented on aviation safety and safety culture mechanisms, providing an overview of the current state of aviation safety culture. Subsequently, the airlines shared best practices in aviation safety culture and discussed practical improvement directions with experts.
The forum was attended by approximately 230 key stakeholders from domestic and international aviation-related government agencies and academia, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the U.S. FAA, as well as major industry representatives from U.S. airlines such as Delta and Hawaiian Airlines, and manufacturers like Airbus and Boeing, along with 11 domestic airlines including Korean Air.
A Korean Air official stated, "Based on a safety culture partnership, we will establish a proactive safety management paradigm," adding, "We will build a robust safety culture to secure a leading position in the global aviation industry."
