In Malaysia, a sexual abuse incident occurred at an Islamic child welfare facility, and authorities have rescued additional children from the facility.

On the 24th, the Associated Press reported that Malaysian police raided a welfare facility operated by 'Global Ikhwan Services & Business' (GISB) on the 21st and rescued 187 children, including 59 under the age of five. Currently, the police are investigating after arresting an additional 156 suspects related to child abuse.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that officials at the welfare facility sexually assaulted children living there and forced children to sexually abuse each other, causing a public outcry. At that time, the police arrested 171 suspects and rescued 402 children and adolescents from about 20 welfare facilities operated by GISB, expanding the investigation. On the 18th, 19 people including Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, CEO of GISB, and other executives were also arrested. According to authorities, the number of victims rescued under the age of 18 has increased to 572 in this case.

The police stated, "The children suffered not only sexual assault and other sexual abuses but were also forced to sexually abuse each other, resulting in physical and psychological harm." They also explained, "Most of the victimized children are children of GISB employees and appear to have been indoctrinated by GISB after being placed in the facility by their parents from a young age." The police are also investigating allegations that GISB received donations from outside by falsely claiming that children with parents were orphans.

Meanwhile, GISB, rooted in the Islamic sect Al-Arqam, which the Malaysian government designated as a heretical group in 1994, operates various businesses in about 20 countries, including healthcare, real estate, and media. It is estimated that about 10,000 GISB employees and followers exist, and they are known to attach religious significance to and practice polygamy.
