‘Visiting Parent Information Sessions’ Held Five Times
Guidance on Digital Age Sex Education Methods for Children Provided
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is conducting a parent education program to prevent deepfake sex crimes. The background for this education is the fact that not only students but also parents can become victims of deepfake crimes without exception.
On the 5th, the Office of Education announced the "Comprehensive Measures to Eradicate Deepfake Sex Crimes in Schools" and is focusing its efforts on eradicating deepfake sex crimes, which have emerged as a serious social issue.
Starting from the 26th, the Office will hold a "Visiting Parent Information Session" for parents at five district education support offices, aiming to prevent deepfake sex crimes and provide sex education for children in the digital age.
This information session is intended to address the rapidly increasing questions from parents and local residents following the announcement of the comprehensive measures, and to improve parental awareness and prevent victimization through systematic education on digital sex crimes.
The Busan Office of Education will begin the series of sessions with an information session for parents and local residents under the jurisdiction of the Southern District Education Support Office at the main auditorium of Busan Bank headquarters at 10 a.m. on the 26th. The sessions will continue in relay format until the 8th of next month. About 200 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students from each district education support office are expected to attend.
Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo and expert instructors will participate in the information sessions with special lectures.
Superintendent Ha will provide information on the overall "Comprehensive Measures to Eradicate Deepfake Sex Crimes," including stricter punishment for students who produce or distribute deepfake pornography and the immediate deletion of such content.
Expert instructors will give lectures on the theme "Sex Education for Parents to Protect Their Children in the Digital Age."
Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo said, "Our Office of Education is doing its utmost to root out digital sex crimes such as deepfakes in schools," and added, "I hope this information session will help parents recognize the seriousness of digital sex crimes and join efforts to prevent them."
In addition, since the 13th, the Busan Office of Education has been working to prevent and eradicate deepfake sex crimes by operating "Intensive Deepfake Education for Parents" online (via ZOOM) once a week until the 2nd of next month, and by supporting digital sex crime education in schools through the "Visiting Parent Classroom" program.
