The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is calling for candidates for housing redevelopment and reconstruction projects.
On the 25th, Suwon City announced that from the 25th of this month until April 30th of next year, it will publicly recruit redevelopment and reconstruction candidate sites targeting areas that meet the legal and ordinance requirements for designation as maintenance zones and have the consent rate of landowners, and that wish to be designated as such zones.
Next month, Suwon City will hold resident briefing sessions related to the candidate site recruitment at the Gunseon-gu and Paldal-gu offices on the 7th, and at the Jangan-gu and Yeongtong-gu offices on the 8th.
Before collecting consent forms, the entity promoting the maintenance project must obtain a number for the consent forms from the Suwon City Urban Maintenance Division and use the numbered consent forms for collection. This measure is to enhance transparency and strengthen residents' right to know.
After collecting consent, residents must apply for candidate sites by April 30th of next year. Suwon City plans to select candidate sites in October next year after six months of preliminary review and consultation. The city will quantify physical conditions using legal and ordinance requirements for zone designation and comprehensively evaluate zone conditions, characteristics, and willingness to proceed.
The selected candidate sites will be supported to be promptly designated as maintenance zones by presenting the basic direction of the maintenance plan. A special system will be applied to secure project momentum and accelerate the progress of maintenance projects by allowing trust companies with expertise and financial capacity to actively lead the projects.
To block speculative forces from entering, the rights calculation reference date will be set as the announcement date of the recruitment, and the building permit restriction date will be set as the candidate site selection date.
A Suwon City official stated, "We will recreate the Suwon city center through horizontal urban maintenance rather than vertical urban maintenance led by administrative agencies," and added, "We will actively support citizens so that they can create the future city they desire through citizen-led initiatives."
