Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, Holds Meeting with Parents of Elementary School Students in Suji Area

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, held a meeting with parent representatives from 27 elementary schools in the Suji area on the 24th at the multipurpose room of Dongcheon Library in Pungdeokcheon-dong, Suji-gu.


The city explained that to conduct the meeting efficiently, it had previously collected suggestions from the parent representatives and reviewed them in advance with each department. The city categorized the 42 received suggestions into matters under the city’s jurisdiction and those handled by the Yongin Office of Education, and explained the review results at the meeting.

During the meeting, the following issues were discussed: ▲Improvement of school entrances (Dongcheon Elementary) ▲Ban on electric scooter operation in front of schools (Sinri and Jukjeon Elementary) ▲Improvement of habitual smoking on school routes (Sinwol Elementary) ▲Deployment of traffic police during school commute times (Seongseo and Suji Elementary) ▲Installation of canopies on school routes (Seowon Elementary) ▲Support for senior volunteer activities of the Green Mothers’ Association (Jukjeon and Pungcheon Elementary).


The mayor stated, "Holding meetings with parent representatives from each school level is an expression of the city and the Office of Education’s commitment to continuously resolve school-specific difficulties and contribute to educational development."


The mayor plans to hold a meeting with parent representatives from elementary schools in Giheung-gu on the 30th.
