Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants to Launch 'ESG Academy 5th Course' on October 7

The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) announced on the 25th that it will open the ‘KICPA ESG Academy 5th Course’ starting October 7. This course is structured in three stages and will be conducted through live Zoom lectures and video lectures.

The 5th course is divided into general, advanced, and certification courses. The general course (10.7~11.4) covers an overview of ESG, related accounting and tax matters, and standards for management implementation, evaluation, and reporting. The advanced course (11.11~12.9) provides additional learning on detailed content, case studies, ESG finance, and greenhouse gas emissions calculation. The certification course (12.16~12.23) focuses on ESG information certification standards and practical cases. A total of 26 ESG experts from the Big Four accounting firms, Korea Exchange, and the Korea Accounting Standards Board will participate as instructors in this course.

The KICPA ESG Academy was first launched in November 2021 as an educational platform to respond to the increasing demand for ESG experts. From the second half of 2022, the target audience was expanded to include the general public, reflecting the needs of practitioners in companies and other organizations.

Both the general and advanced courses of the 5th course are open to certified public accountants and the general public, while the certification course is only available to certified public accountants. Registration for certified public accountants is available on the KICPA Academy education site, and for the general public, on a dedicated site for the general public. The number of participants is limited to 200 certified public accountants and 150 general public attendees, and registration will close on a first-come, first-served basis. Notably, the first lecture of the general course will be provided live on the KICPA YouTube channel from 2 p.m. on October 7 without separate registration.

A KICPA official stated, “This course covers the latest trends such as the establishment of domestic and international sustainability disclosure standards and will be of great help to certified public accountants and corporate practitioners.”
